Overview:The XAT Exam is conducted every January, and the results are declared two weeks after the exam. XAT Registration starts in July, and the last dates are in November. By then, candidates are supposed to fill out the XAT Registration Form and pay the XAT Registration Fees. XLRI Jamshedpur declares the exam schedule on its official website by July every Year.
The Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) is an all-India management entrance examination for the prestigious Xavier School of Management (XLRI) and other associated management institutes.
For more than 74 years, XLRI has conducted the XAT exam at all India level to select the most appropriate candidate for management education.
XLRI conducts the XAT exam every January on behalf of XLRI Associate Member Institutes (XAMI).
The XAT exam is conducted across 70+ XAT exam centres across the country, with almost every state having at least one XAT exam centre.
More than 160 institutes are using XAT exam scores for admission.
XLRI announces the XAT Registration Start Date, XAT Registration Last Date, and the entire schedule for XAT every July.
The XAT registration process starts immediately, including filling out the XAT Registration Form and paying the XAT Exam Fees.

XAT Registration: Stepwise Process to Fill XAT Registration
Candidates should take extra care when filling out the XAT Registration Form, as they cannot change or edit it once it is submitted.
If important details like Name/Parent’s Name are spelt incorrectly, candidates might not be able to appear for the exam as their verification at the entrance would fail.
The Stepwise Process for filling out the Application Form as per the XAT guidelines is listed below:
If the candidates cannot complete the XAT Registration Form in one go, they can save the data already entered by choosing “SAVE and Next”.
Candidates are advised to fill out the XAT Registration Form themselves, as no changes will be possible or entertained after clicking the FINAL SUBMIT BUTTON.
The name of the Candidate/Parent’s Name should be spelt correctly as it appears in the certificates/Mark Sheets/Identity Proof. Any change/alteration found may disqualify the candidate.
The candidate needs to scan and upload a Photo & Signature as per the specifications.
The candidate must complete the XAT Registration Form’s Academic & Work Experience Details.
The Candidate should click the Preview tab to preview and verify the XAT Registration Form before clicking the final submit button.
Modify details, if required, and submit only after ensuring that all the details and documents in the XAT Registration Form are correct. “Applicant Details can not be changed once the form is submitted after XAT Application Fees payment.”
Select the XLRI programme based on your preference if you wish to study in XLRI.
Select XAT Test City Preference in the correct order of preference.
Click the “Payment” Tab to pay XAT Registration Fees.
Once you receive verification about paying the XAT Registration fees, click the “Submit” button.
XAT Registration: Documents Required for Filling the XAT Registration Form
Candidates should have certain documents ready while filling out the XAT Registration Form.
If candidates don’t have these documents, preparing them before the XAT Registration Dates is advisable.
Candidates need to upload only a scanned copy of their photograph and signature to the XAT Registration Form, while the other documents are required to make the correct entries.
It is important to note that all the details entered in the XAT Registration Form are verified before college admission. If any details are found incorrect, institutes might revoke the offer provided to the students.
The important documents candidates should have handy while filling out the XAT Registration Form are listed below:

XAT Registration: Payment of XAT Registration Fees
XAT Registration Form Fees: Rs. 2000/- to Rs. 2100/-
XAT Registration Form Fees for application to XLRI Programmes: Rs. 200/- per Program
Indian Candidates can also apply for PGDM(GM) through GMAT/GRE, whereas NRI/Foreign nationals can apply for all programmes through GMAT. It should be noted that GRE Scores are valid only for PGDM(GM).
XAT Registration Fees for Indian Candidates applying for PGDM(GM) through GMAT/GRE – Rs. 2500/-
XAT Registration Fees for NRI/Foreign candidates applying for one or more programmes through GMAT– Rs. 5000/-
XLRI always uploads the instructions for the photograph to its website for the candidates. You must follow the instructions for the XAT Registration and click the Photograph accordingly.
An error message will be displayed if the file size and format are not as prescribed. While filling in the Online XAT Registration Form, the candidate will be provided with a link to upload his photograph and signature.
The instructions for the XAT Registration for 2024 have been listed below:
The photograph must be a recent passport-size colour picture.
If the picture is taken on a sunny day, have the sun behind you, or place yourself in the shade so that you are not squinting and there are no harsh shadows.
Look straight at the camera with a relaxed face.
If you must use flash, ensure there's no "red-eye".
If you wear glasses, ensure there are no reflections and your eyes can be clearly seen.
Caps, hats, and dark glasses are not acceptable. Religious headwear is allowed, but it must not cover the face.
Ensure that the size of the scanned image is between 20 KB and 50 KB. If the file size is more than 50KB, adjust the scanner settings, such as the DPI resolution, number of colours, etc., during the scanning process.
Procedure for Uploading the Photograph:
Set the scanner resolution to a minimum of 200 dpi (dots per inch).
Set Colour to True Colour.
File Size as specified above.
Crop the image in the scanner to the edge of the photograph/signature, then use the upload editor to crop the image to the final size (as specified above).
The image file should be JPG or JPEG format. An example file name is image01.jpg or image01.jpeg. Image dimensions can be checked by listing the folder files or moving the mouse over the file image icon. Candidates using MS Windows/MS Office can easily obtain photos and signatures in .jpeg format that does not exceed 50KB by using MS Paint or MS Office Picture Manager. Scanned photographs and signatures in any format can be saved in .jpg format using the 'Save As' option in the File menu, and the size can be reduced below 50KB (photograph & signature) by using the crop and then the resize option.
XAT Registration: Instructions for Signature Image
XLRI always releases the instructions for the Signature Image on its website for the candidates. You must follow the instructions for the XAT Registration and click the Photograph accordingly.
If the file size and format are not as prescribed, an error message will be displayed. While filling out the Online XAT Registration Form, the candidates will be provided with a link to upload their photographs and signatures.
The instructions for the XAT Registration for 2024 have been listed below:
The applicant has to sign on white paper with a Black Ink pen.
The signature must be signed only by the applicant and not by anyone else.
The Signature will be used to put on the ADMIT CARD and wherever necessary.
The Applicant’s signature obtained on the ADMIT CARD and attendance sheet at the time of the examination should match the uploaded signature. In case of a mismatch, the candidate may be disqualified.
Ensure that the scanned image size should be between 20KB – 50KB.
Procedure for Uploading the Signature:
There will be two separate links for uploading a Photograph and Signature.
Click on the respective link "Upload Photograph / Signature".
Browse & Select the location where the Scanned Photo/ Signature file has been saved.
XAT Registration: Instructions for Candidates while paying XAT Registration Fees
After paying the XAT registration fees, you can download/print the XAT Registration Form containing details of the XAT Registration Fees.
The XAT Registration Form is integrated with the payment gateway, and the XAT Registration fee payment process can be completed by following the instructions.
The XAT Registration Fees can be paid using Debit Cards (RuPay / Visa / Master Card / Maestro), Credit Cards, Internet Banking, IMPS, Cash Cards, or mobile Wallets.
After submitting your XAT Registration Fees payment information, please wait for the intimation from the server. Do not press the back or refresh button to avoid double payment of XAT Registration Fees.
An e-receipt will be generated upon successful completion of the transaction. The non-generation of an e-receipt indicates PAYMENT FAILURE. If payment fails, Candidates are advised to log in again using their registered Email ID and Password and repeat the process of paying the XAT Registration Fees.
Candidates must print out the e-receipt and online XAT Registration Form. Please note that online transactions may not have been successful if the same cannot be generated.
For Card charges are listed in Indian Rupee. If you use a non-Indian credit card, your bank will convert it to your local currency based on prevailing exchange rates.
