What is the XAT exam?

• The Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) is an all-India management entrance examination for the prestigious Xavier School of Management (XLRI) and other associated management institutes.
• For more than 74 years, XLRI has conducted the XAT exam at all India level to select the most appropriate candidate for management education.

Question Types	The XAT exam syllabus for the VA&LR section will encompass critical & analytical reasoning, reading comprehension (including poems & passages), vocabulary, English grammar, and other related exercises such as para jumbles, cloze tests, etc.	The XAT exam syllabus for the DM section will present scenarios drawn from both personal and professional lives. Candidates will be required to apply critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and prioritization to make informed decisions.	In the XAT exam syllabus for this section, the questions are designed to assess the quantitative aptitude of candidates who possess a foundational understanding of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, mensuration, modern maths, etc. The questions on DI are about clear interpretation, summarization, and insightful analysis of the data.	To test the keyboard, candidates will be requested to type--The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.	In the XAT exam syllabus for the GK section, 10 questions will focus on static GK, while the remaining 15 will delve into current affairs.	The XAT exam syllabus for the AEW section will offer three topics, of which candidates will select one. Essays should be approximately 250 words in length and must demonstrate coherence, logical consistency, and strong argumentation, serving as an assessment of the student's analytical abilities.

XAT Preparation: Strategy and Tips

1. XAT tests your ability to provide ethical and logical arguments above all else. Hence, during XAT Preparation, you must develop consistency of thought by reading and practising. Thus, practice and solve the previous year’s papers to get acquainted with the exam pattern.
2. Time is the most important component in XAT. Unlike CAT, which has a fixed time for each section, XAT has a clubbed time limit for three sections and another clubbed time limit for the remaining two sections, as shown in the pattern above. 5. Critical reasoning and reading comprehension dominate the Verbal and Logical Ability Section. Hence, one must improve quick reading and comprehension skills during XAT Preparation, which can be done only through daily exercise.
6. For the decision-making and analytical judgment section, you must take an ethically correct and balanced approach. Your answer should not favour any particular party and should consider the viewpoint of all the stakeholders before making a decision.
7. Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation in XAT is the only section that can be considered similar to any other entrance exam. Hence, XAT Preparation for this section requires only a strong conceptual base and good application orientation.
8. The General Knowledge section plays an important role in XAT Preparation because it is mainly based on economics and business-related facts of the prevailing time. Applicants must know the Static GK, such as authors, award winners, awards, and the Dynamic GK of the last 8-10 months.
