  • Knowing the syllabus will help you decide when to start your NMAT preparation.
  • The NMAT syllabus covers many study topics, so thorough preparation is essential.
  • Even the best preparation material may not be enough to succeed in the NMAT exam if you understand the syllabus clearly.

Language skills

You can do a few key things to excel in the reading comprehension section:

  • Firstly, you must improve your reading speed and broaden your vocabulary. This can be achieved by reading content from various topics and staying updated about worldwide events.
  • Secondly, it's essential to be well-versed in the syllabus and marking scheme for  NMAT. Thereafter, identify which topics must be covered. If you have any weak areas, focus on building your basics before moving on to solving questions and practising.
  • Thirdly, it's essential to monitor your areas of strength and areas of improvement constantly. With each analysis and effort, ensure that you're progressing and covering the concepts that need more clarity.
  • The next important step is to practice as many mock tests as possible. Simulating an exam-like environment will enhance your speed and ability to work efficiently under pressure.

Quantitative Skills

  • To improve your calculation speed, it is essential to grasp the basics well and understand the different types of questions.
  • Work on data interpretation by solving various case studies to increase speed and accuracy.
  • Prioritize high-scoring and commonly covered topics such as geometry, profit and loss, speed and distance, and percentage.
  • It would be best to take as many mock tests as possible to evaluate your performance accurately. Doing so lets you determine how much time to devote to each section and identify areas that require more practice. To revise and identify areas for improvement, it is suggested that you spend time thoroughly analyzing 2-3 mock tests per week.
  • Identify weak topics and allocate sufficient time to improve them, as they are equally crucial to overall performance.
  • Regular revision of fundamentals and concepts is crucial for success in the exam. Make notes of formulas and concepts and revise at least twice a week.
  • Time management is critical to achieving a good score in the NMAT quantitative skills section, as the exam rewards the ability to solve the maximum number of questions in the given time limit.

Logical Reasoning

  • The first step in preparing for the Logical Reasoning section is to analyze and identify the question type to determine one's strengths and weaknesses.
  • Practising questions is also crucial, as Logical Reasoning is a practical section. It is essential to read the questions carefully and pay attention to words like "all," "some," and "none" to identify clues or hints that can help answer them.
  • Visualizing the question before solving it, such as drawing a rough diagram or mind map, is also recommended. Finally, developing a reading habit is essential for the Logical Reasoning section to improve concentration and understanding.
