What is the NMAT Exam?

NMAT Marking Scheme – Important Changes in the Exam Pattern

The NMAT exam format has undergone some significant changes. The total number of questions has been reduced from 120 to 108, and each of the three exam sections now contains 36 multiple-choice questions (MCQs).

Furthermore, the time given for the Language Skills section has been increased from 22 to 28 minutes, and for the Logical Reasoning section, it has been raised from 38 to 40 minutes. On the other hand, the time allotted to the Quantitative Skills section has been reduced from 60 to 52 minutes.

NMAT Marking Scheme

GMAC designs the NMAT marking scheme and syllabus each year. The syllabus comprises 108 questions and three sections.

The NMAT exam is a computer-based test that you can complete online. It is tested in English via a series of multiple-choice and objective questions.

You receive no marks for unanswered questions, and with no negative marking in the exam, there is no punishment for a wrong answer. A correct answer is worth three marks.

The exam lasts two hours; you can choose the section in order. Each section of NMAT contains several topics and subtopics that you must prepare for.

The NMAT exam's logical reasoning section assesses analytical and critical thinking skills. You must analyze arguments and conclude to demonstrate your judgment-making skills.

This section comprises 36 questions that must be completed within 40 minutes. The NMAT marking scheme in this section ranges from 12 to 120.

• Prioritize high-scoring and commonly covered topics such as geometry, profit and loss, speed and distance, and percentage.
• It would be best to take as many mock tests as possible to evaluate your performance accurately. Doing so lets you determine how much time to devote to each section and identify areas that require more practice. To revise and identify areas for improvement, it is suggested that you spend time thoroughly analyzing 2-3 mock tests per week.
• Identify weak topics and allocate sufficient time to improve them, as they are equally crucial to overall performance.
• Regular revision of fundamentals and concepts is crucial for success in the exam. Make notes of formulas and concepts and revise at least twice a week.
• Time management is critical to achieving a good score in the NMAT quantitative skills section, as the exam rewards the ability to solve the maximum number of questions in the given time limit.
