Haryana Judiciary Eligibility Criteria 2024

Before proceeding with the application form, you must meet the required eligibility. 

Haryana Judiciary Eligibility is decided on the 3 basic parameters: age limit, educational qualification, and applicant's nationality.

Nationality:

• Indian citizen, or
• Citizen of Nepal or Bhutan, or
• Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962, or
• A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam to settle in India permanently.
• These candidates must have a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.

Age Limit:

• Minimum: 21 years,
• Maximum: 42 years,
• Age calculated as of 31st January 2024.

Age Relaxation:

• 5 years for Scheduled Castes of Haryana, Backward Classes of Haryana.
• 5 years for disabled persons under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (+5 years for candidates from SC/ST/BC, max 52 years).
• Various relaxations for wives of military personnel, widowed/divorced women, unmarried women, and ex-servicemen.

Educational Qualification:

• Bachelor of Laws degree from a recognized university approved by the Bar Council of India as of the closing date (31st January 2024).

Additional Requirements:

• Specific conditions and documentations for ex-servicemen and persons with benchmark disabilities.

Haryana Judiciary Exam 2024 Application Process

You can follow the steps below to fill out the Haryana Judiciary Application form without errors.

• Visit the official website of the Haryana Public Service Commission: www.https://hpsc.gov.in/
• On the Home page, look for the "Apply Online for Civil Judge (Junior Division) in HCS (judicial branch) link and click on it.
• Click on the "New Registration" tab.
• Enter all the required details and click on the "Register button."
• The system will generate the new User ID and password and send them to the registered mobile number and E-mail ID.
• Re-login to the website and click on the "Application Form" link for Civil Judge.
• Provide all details and upload a recent passport-size picture and signature as per the specifications.
• Pay the required fee for your application as per the category

Application Fee

The application fee for the Haryana Judiciary Exam 2024, as per the official notification, varies depending on the category of the candidate. The details are as follows:

Haryana Judiciary Exam Pattern 2024

Haryana Public Service Commission decides on the selection process for this recruitment. The finalized Haryana Judiciary Exam Pattern is decided for three stages: Prelims, Mains, and Viva-voice/Interview. 

Prelims Exam Pattern

• The Preliminary round of the Haryana Judiciary exam consists of 125 multiple-choice questions for 500 marks. The exam is conducted for 2 hours. Every Question is of 4 marks.
• Negative Marking: 0.8 for every wrong answer.
• Every question will have 5 options, and the candidates will have to select the right answer (A, B, C, D, and E options to select from).
• The standard of the question paper will be at the law graduate level. i.e. the standard LLB syllabus prescribed in BCI-approved law colleges across India. 
• No candidate shall be allowed to appear in the Main Examination unless he/she secures a minimum of 150 marks (read 100 marks for all reserved category candidates excluding the EWS category) in the Preliminary Examination. 
• The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination shall not be counted towards the final result.
• Candidates equal to 10 times the number of vacancies advertised, selected in order of their merit in the respective categories, shall become eligible to sit in the Main Written Examination. 

Mains Exam Pattern

• In the Mains Exam, you are asked five subjects- Civil Law I, Civil Law II, Criminal Law III, English, and Language (Hindi in Devanagari Script).
• If you belong to the general category, you must obtain 50% marks in the mains exam to get shortlisted for the viva voce. For the reserved category, the qualifying marks are 45%.
• The Main Written Examination will be subjective/narrative type.
• The main Examination will be conducted in English Medium except for the language paper.
• Bare copies of legislative enactments only shall be supplied.
• Each written paper shall be three hours long.
• The standard of the language paper shall be that of the Matriculation Examination of the Board of School Education, Haryana.

The marking scheme for each subject is as follows:

• No candidate shall be credited with any marks in any written paper unless he/she obtains at least 33% marks.
• Candidates must achieve a minimum of 50% in aggregate across all written papers to be eligible for the viva-voce test. However, for those in specific categories (SC/ST, BC, PwBD, and Ex-servicemen, excluding dependents of SM and EWS), the qualifying threshold is 45%.

Interview

• You will be shortlisted for interview/viva-voce only if you qualify for both the Prelims and Mains exams. The interview is conducted for a total of 100 marks.
• Provided further, only those candidates shall be eligible to be recruited as civil judges/judicial magistrates who secure 50oZ or more marks [read 45%o for the SC/ST. BCs, PwBD and ESM category candidates (but not dependent on llSM and EWS)I in aggregate of the marks secured in the main written examination and the viva-voce.
• Provided that the number of candidates to be called for viva-voce in order of the mark obtained in the written examination shall not exceed three times the number of vacancies advertised.
• Candidates for the viva-voce will be selected based on marks from the written exam, limited to three times the number of vacancies. However, if candidates tie with the last selected one, all tied candidates will be called for the interview, even if it exceeds three times the vacancies. Viva-voce participation is compulsory.
